Village of Warwick Awarded Three Million Dollar EFC Grant

Seal of New York State

The Village of Warwick is very pleased at the award of $3,062,500.00 from New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation. The grant is for the replacement of our Wastewater Treatment Plant and will potentially cover a quarter of the project. Like so many communities in New York State we struggle with aging infrastructure and the associated costs of repair and replacement. Municipal grants are highly competitive, and we were surprised and happy to receive the call from the Governor’s Office. The Village will continue to search for grants and funding sources for this project. This award will do a great deal to take the burden of costs away from residents.

The Village’s wastewater plant currently uses Rotating Biological Contactors commonly called RBC’s, we will be moving to a Sequential Batch Reactor Technology SBR’s. The plant’s capacity is now 1 million gallons per day and we plan to enlarge it to 1.25 million gallons. The Village has created an informational brochure to help our residents understand the issues that surround the replacement, as well the costs and our strategy to fund the project. This brochure can be found here.
