Marching and Music
Congratulations to Chief Michael Contaxis for such a successful Firemen’s Parade. Thank you to the entire department for being such professional and welcoming hosts. Fire departments from throughout Orange County, Sussex County and as far as Long Island were here this past Saturday to compete. The Village looked beautiful: the flower planters and hanging baskets had been set out, American flags were displayed; it was small town celebration at its best. The parade meandered through some of our most beautiful neighborhoods. The best part was the crowds of folks who came out to enjoy the bit of fire department formality, marching bands and bagpipers, and remarkable firematic equipment. Thank you as well to the Rotary Club who cooked hot dogs and hamburgers back at the firehouse for the army of visitors.
The first concert of the Summer Concert Series was the same evening! A crowd came out to Railroad Green to hear, “Ladies of the Eighties” The next concert is this Saturday 6/10, Stoneflower. Thank you to John Johansson and Michael Gurvich, our new Concert Coordinators. John and Michael have taken the musical baton from Bill Iurato who developed the series to what we know today – a much-loved part of Warwick’s summertime. Thank you, Bill, for your community service.
