Thanksgiving 2023

A Thankful Heart

There are many ways to celebrate Thanksgiving. Most often it involves family and friends and a feast! There is a great deal of preparation, timing, and anticipation. The meal making, sharing of recipes, trying new recipes, exploring locally made or locally grown treasures is part of the fun. Sometimes when the numbers swell and we search for spare tables and chairs it becomes a military strategy, adding children and pets to the mix and chaos ensues. There is the magic moment when everyone is seated and with folded hands, we give thanks.

For a moment we can stop in our tracks and with a thankful heart show gratitude for our loved ones but also for the things that surround us. It starts at home with food comfort and friends and to a neighborhood, safe, cared for. If you live in a Village then it is that wonderful environ of neighbors and the close-knit proximity of tree-lined streets, historic buildings, parks and a busy downtown and if you live in Greenwood Lake, there is the glorious lake! Outside our Villages are rolling fields and forests, clusters of homes and hamlets. If you perch yourself high enough you can witness the extraordinary Valley, we call home. It is breathtaking in its expansive and protected beauty.

We are blessed as we are surrounded by friends and family, but we must remember that many go hungry, many are alone, and many are filled with deep sadness. This is the season of grace and giving. To help and to care is a continuous part of the Warwick community we know and love. You can give a financial gift or support through volunteerism to various local organizations that will help so many.
