March Magic

March is a month you either love or hate. The weather is exceedingly variable – wind, rain, snow, cold and sometimes unseasonably warm. It’s a mixed bag, the potluck of months! In my mind it’s the season of nature stirring and the unexpected. The glimmer of Spring, the promise of longer days. For that it does seem like there are other forces at hand and thus a quality of magic and the surreal.

We recently received word from Congressman, Pat Ryan. The Community Project Grant we were awarded has been finally voted on by Congress and has passed. The $960,000 grant is for a key infrastructure project, Well #3. This well upgrade, and return to the system, will give us water supplies during drought and act as a redundancy in the event of system repairs.

This past Friday, Supervisor Dwyer and I attended a Cub Scout Arrow of Light Passing Over Ceremony at Mountain Lake Park. The young men who have finished their Cub Scout training as Webelos are now officially beginning a new phase in scouting, Boy Scouts. Congratulations to these young men for their achievement.

I personally have vivid memories of scouting while growing up here.  I too was a member of Cub Scout Pack 177 and went on to Boy Scout Troop 45.

Congratulations and thank you to Planning Board Counsel, Rob Dickover and Planning Board Engineer, Dave Getz. Both men are retiring after long and active careers. Both have served our Village with care and excellence.

The next Village Board meeting will take place on Monday, March 18, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. at Village Hall, 77 Main Street.
