The Haunting Season

The Halloween season this year was unusual due to its length and many fun activities. I’ll try to list some of them. The first event was a series of Haunted History Tours sponsored by the Historical Society followed by a merchant activity “Witches Night Out”. The weekend leading up to Halloween a Psychic Fair took place in Lewis Park and the Rocky Horror Picture Show was being performed by the Core Theatre Group in Roosevelt Hall at the Hudson Sports Complex, all the while the Haunted Prison Tours were going on in the same complex.  All three Villages had parades and contests or tours for the best-decorated Houses. In the Village of Warwick, the contest is called, “Scare the Mayor” and the Halloween Parade attracted over a thousand ghosts, ghouls, and goblins. The parade is followed by a costume contest! The winners of both contests are posted on our FB page and website.

So much to do in the spooky Warwick Valley! Thank you to the Warwick Recreation Department, the Warwick Police Department, the Warwick Fire Department, and the Warwick Lions Club for making the annual parade a memorable and safe activity.

Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 11:11 a.m., will be the start of the Veterans Day Parade. Line-up is at 10:30 a.m. on High Street. The parade will lead to Memorial Park, Veterans Monument for a ceremony to celebrate our Veterans past and present.

On Friday evening at 7:00 p.m., the Warwick Historical Society will be hosting an event called “Veteran’s Day Remembrances” at the Buckbee Center located at 2 Colonial Avenue. This is a wonderful evening of story-sharing, camaraderie, and community engagement. All are welcome.

The next Village Board meeting will take place on Monday, November 6, 2023, at Village Hall located at 77 Main Street.
