From the Mayor’s Office – The End is the Beginning

Summer is ending. Weather-wise it was a good one- a little hot, a little cool, enough rain. Right now, picture perfect and great sleeping weather! There are still some Summery things to do but slowly and surely we are headed for fall. It’s a big shift in this Valley, it represents a time of celebration, harvest, the beginning of migrations, and a re-found closeness to the earth. It’s also a busy time when visitors come to enjoy this beautiful place, our verdant valley. So, for a window of time, we share our home with many, and we figure out the best way to maneuver around to do our shopping or chores. Our patience is sometimes tested but, in the end, it supports the agriculture and businesses that allow us to keep our rural bones.

School is beginning this week, please plan your commute accordingly. Drive safe and follow the speed limits throughout the Village especially in school zones. Forester, Galloway/17A, the vicinity around Park Avenue School and West Street to the Middle School and High School. With continued warm weather many students will walk into the Village after school, please be aware and careful.

It seems like yesterday I waited for the bus with my son on his first day of school. He’s now 23! To our parents who are beginning the journey of their child entering school, enjoy! It is a fleeting and precious time.

The Warwick Chambers 23’-24’ Official Guide is available at local shops. It’s filled with great information for the coming seasons for residents and guests.

This Saturday’s Summer Concert, 9/2 has been cancelled and the next and last concert of the season will be 9/9 Lusito Rosario Y Su Orquesta. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. on Railroad Green.

The next Village Board meeting will take place on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at 7:30 p.m. at Village Hall, 77 Main Street.
