Blue Moon
There are two full moons in August. There was the Sturgeon Moon on August 1st and on the 30th will be a full Blue Moon, meaning the rare occurrence of two full moons in one month. This late August moon will be a super moon which means it will be visually the largest and brightest. So, point your nose east this Wednesday evening for a spectacular moon rise.
The Villages Comprehensive Master Plan is an award-winning document that indicates next steps, which is the development of Task Force Committees. These committees include: the Climate Smart Communities Task Force, the Broadband Task Force, the Inclusion Task Force, the Transportation Task Force, and the Zoning Task Force. Each Committee is headed by a Village Trustee, and we are seeking Village residents to participate. The committees will investigate each focus area of and make recommendations to the Village Board.
The Zoning Task Force will include representatives from our various boards including the Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals, and the Architectural Review Board. We have recently applied for a grant to hire a planning consultant to work with this committee and to guide and investigate a form-based code.
If you are interested in any of the committees please send a letter of intent to the Village Clerk’s Office, Clerk@Villageofwarwick.org This is a wonderful way to engage with your community and to understand the workings of local government.
Sadly, only two more Summer Concerts for the season. Saturday, September 2nd Some Guys and a Broad and Saturday, September 9th Lusito Rosario su Orquestra. Both concerts are on Railroad Green and begin at 7:30 p.m. Thank you to John Johansen and Michael Gurvich who organized the series. The concerts are a beloved part of summer in the Village.
August for the Arts has come to an end with the two-day Fuller Moon Festival and what an overall success! Congratulations to Wickam Works, the Warwick Center for the Performing Arts, the Broadway Collective, The Moving Company, the Hudson Valley Jazz Festival, the Hudson Valley Film Festival, and all the artists and Art groups and initiatives that were involved in making a memorable month of creative and fun activities.
The Village of Warwick’s first newsletter was mailed last week, and the response has been very positive. Thank you to Trustee Collura for her work to make it a reality. We are hoping that this will be a quarterly publication sent to all Village residents. If you would like an extra copy or are not a Village resident but are curious, they are available at Village Hall.
