From the Mayor’s Office – June 23, 2023
Summer is a Comin ‘in
The bright lights of the Fireman’s Carnival illuminate the sky, maybe preparing us for the fireworks show this Saturday evening. The Firemen’s Carnival is in Town! For Carnival-related information please go HERE. It also marks the end of the school year and High School Graduation. These activities wonderfully coincide. Thank you to the Warwick Fire Company who sponsor this wonderful, safe family event. Congratulations to the Warwick Valley High School Class of 2023 for a job well done. This is just the beginning!
So, Summer starts now! The first day of Summer was June 21st and the season and all its fun is before us. Right now, I begin my Summer clock – the first tomato, first ear of corn, first swim, first ice cream of the season and the list goes on. The one thing these “firsts” have in common is they are all about pleasure and so Summer is for me the season of pleasure.
There is no Summer Concert this week due to Graduation. They will resume on July 1st with the Free Shrimp Band. Concerts start at 7:30 pm. Check out the full schedule at: https://villageofwarwick.org/2023-village-of-warwick-summer-concert-series/
Please visit the Summer Concerts Facebook page for up-to-date information on any weather-related postponements: https://www.facebook.com/vowsummerconcertseries
July 1st is also the Village of Greenwood Lakes annual Independence Day Parade. The parade starts at 11:00 am. This is truly Greenwood Lakes season! If you have a boat or know someone with a boat, enjoy this amazing body of water that’s in our own backyard. It’s also a place to find some great eats – there are so many restaurants that are on the Lake to try. Do a “Lake Day”!
In the Village of Warwick, the annual, “Pickers Paradise” Sidewalk Sale will be Saturday, July 8th and Sunday, July 9th starting at 10:00 am both days.
On Thursday, June 29th the “Keep the Music Going 2023 Summer Concert Series” will take place at the Seward-Mapes Homestead Park, 35 North Main Street in the Village of Florida from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Whiskey Crossing will be performing – high energy Country Blues and Country Rock. Bring a blanket.
The beloved Annual Countryside Garden Tour presented by the Warwick Valley Gardeners is Saturday, July 8th with a rain date of Sunday, July 9th, this is always a treat. This is a self-guided tour of some of the most beautiful gardens in the Warwick Valley. You can purchase tickets online until July 7th at https://warwickgardeners.com/
