FROM THE MAYOR’S OFFICE: The Warwick we Love

This past weekend was certainly filled with activities! Friday evening the Hudson Wind Symphony played on RR Green. On Saturday, in the same spot, the UAME Church presented their annual community Health Fair and Sunday was the Day of Acceptance, Illumination and Pride Parade. I was honored to be the Grand Marshal for the parade. Every event was wonderfully attended and clearly showed our diversity and inclusivity. I would like to thank the Warwick Police Department for their presence and sensitive attention to these often exuberant events. As I look at the calendar ahead it’s filled with as many activities, Juneteenth, Graduation, the Firemen’s Carnival. It’s hard to believe how many things that didn’t happen during our COVID isolation and to have them back is a welcome relief.

On behalf of the Village Board, I would like to send our condolences to the families of Joseph Lawler and Carl Scheible. Both were Village residents, Joe was involved with many organizations including the American Legion and VFW. He took loving care, maintaining the Veterans Monument in Memorial Park. He was a true friend of the community. I will miss his presence at our Board meetings and his visits to my office. I appreciated his sense of humor, his laugh, and was grateful for his friendship. Carl served on the Village Planning Board for many years. He may be best known for his house on Oakland Court that would be transformed into a haunted house every Halloween much to the delight of thousands of trick or treaters. Joe and Carl were very different men, both gave to the community from their heart, their presence ,their love of Warwick was apparent in their generosity of spirit and desire to give back- part pride of place and love of home, their imprint and gifts will be remembered.

The next Village Board meeting will be held on Monday, June 27, 2022 in Village Hall located at 77 Main Street.
