A Working Model

The planters have been put out this morning. Thank you to Deborah Sweeton who did the planting plan, Scheuermann Farms and Greenhouses, F.H. Corwin Florist and Greenhouses and Sugar Loaf Mountain Herbs and GF Greenhouses who grew plants for us and the volunteers from Warwick Valley Gardeners who got their hands dirty and planted the 60 pots! It takes a Village and then some. The hanging baskets downtown have been installed; these were planted by Emmerich Greenhouses. The Warwick Valley Gardeners have been busy with tending all the gardens throughout the Village. They have been focusing especially on Railroad Green as it’s the 20th Anniversary this year. Some of our crew has been installing brackets for Military Tribute Banners, a Warwick Rotary Project, that will be put up next week in time for Memorial Day.

Besides the Village sponsored beautification efforts and Public Works activities there are many private projects as well. New sidewalks are being installed surrounding the complex that houses Dunkin Donuts, Warwick Thai, Taco Hombre, and Craft Beer Sellers. The TD Bank is redoing their parking lot. The County is completing the Bank Street Bridge Project which should be open soon. There seems like a bit of pent-up energy post pandemic as these projects begin to unfold. What they all share is a pride of place, and each part is an investment to not only the physical beauty of our Village but also to its economy.

This attention to detail is what a visitor sees when they find Warwick. I feel often we are a working model always striving, adjusting, making what we have better. This is clearly seen through the work by our many nonprofits and civic organizations who do so much to make sure that not only the Village is beautiful and healthy but also that we don’t lose sight of our greatest asset and that is the Community we live in and the people who make it great.

Hi temps this weekend! Hydrate, stay cool and have fun.
