FROM THE MAYOR’S OFFICE – Summer Begins!

From The Mayor’s Office

On any given summer weekend, the Railroad Green is filled with the sounds of music, laughter, children – a summer evening in Warwick and all the activities as well as the beauty that surrounds us makes me smile, makes me glad I live here.

This past Sunday the Village hosted its annual Bike Parade and the Community Center held its first annual Family Day which included fun activities such as races, a scavenger hunt, and a country auction. It was great and the kind of community activity that reminds us that life needn’t be complex and that pleasure can be found in shared activities. Thanks to all who helped organize what we all hope will become a yearly event.

The Firemen’s Carnival starts this week. This is in my mind is the moment summer really starts. This year should be even more fun since our fire department is celebrating their 150th Anniversary. Fireworks will be on Saturday evening and I imagine it will be quite a show. For more info please check out Warwick Fire Department Facebook page.

Saturday is the WVHS graduation. Congratulations to all our graduates in Warwick and beyond. This is such an important moment – it’s a time to reflect on the hard work and relationships that have been formed and time to look forward with the hopes and dreams for the future. On behalf of the Village Board, we wish you the very best!

What lies ahead for the summer of 2019? Make your list now: Ice-cream at the Creamery, an evening of music at Pennings, a kayak trip on the Wawayanda, a bike ride along country roads, dinner at the Breezy, the Warwick Garden Tour, the annual Sidewalk Sale… The list goes on and on. This is the time to explore the Warwick Valley and all it has to offer. Have fun!

The next Village Board meeting will take place Monday, July 1, 2019, at 7:30 p.m. at Village Hall, 77 Main Street.
