FROM THE MAYOR’S OFFICE – Coming Home

The main streets of the Village were lined with families, neighbors, and well wishers to see this years Homecoming Parade. This is a quintessential hometown event – Grand Marshal, Mr. De Leo, our terrific school band, the amazing wire choir, classic cars with the homecoming court and king and queen, floats, teams, teachers’ organizations and PTA’s, the elementary school parents, teachers and students! All under a clear and sunny September sky! These are the local moments we relish and the reason we live here. A parade like this is a moment of suspended time when all that ails us whisks away and the focus of our attention is the happiness and future of our children. It is also a direct reflection of our school district and it seemed very clear that the pride that was shown, is the powerful elixir of a strong and vibrant school community. Congratulations to the Homecoming Committee, all the students, teachers, and parents for their hard work and thank you for the wonderful hometown moment.

And the next event?

Recently the Town of Warwick, the Village’s of Warwick, Greenwood Lake, and Florida have announced the new internet events platform called Burbio. This is a free; iOS and Android app that puts schools, libraries, governments and community events in one place for all Town and Village residents.

Using Burbio.com, residents can select calendars to follow, create a personalized event feed, sync events to their Google or Apple calendars and be notified of venue or event changes. This app is free for residents and free for non-profits to post their events. Any group can contact Burbio for help getting their events listed.

The idea of a town wide calendar was one of the most requested needs during the visionary process. It’s great we were able to find an app such as Burbio to make it a reality.
