Provisional Billing Control Clerk

The Village of Warwick is seeking to fill the position of Full-Time Provisional Billing Control Clerk for the Water/Sewer Department. This is a full-time provisional appointment, subject to Orange County Civil Service Rules; therefore, to be considered for a full-time permanent position the selected candidate is required to take the Billing Control Clerk Orange County Civil Service exam, when offered, and must be considered ‘reachable’ according to Civil Service Rules.

Responsibilities include providing general support to the Clerk’s Office, setting up new water/sewer accounts, entering water meter readings, researching billing complaints and related billing issues; maintenance of a database containing account information, meter readings, etc.; calculating and mailing new and delinquent bills, entering payments, scheduling appointments, and preparing work orders for service repairs and final reads.

Applicants must have exceptional skills in multi-tasking, time management, customer service and communication. Proficiency in general computer applications including Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, and Word is required.

Minimum qualifications: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and one (1) year of clerical or general office experience which shall have involved updating and maintaining computer files.

This is a benefits eligible position, including health insurance, eye/dental reimbursement, paid time off, and enrollment in the New York State Local Retirement System. This is a 32.5 hour position, Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., with 1-hour unpaid lunch.
