RESOLUTION: Temporarily Suspend Termination of Water Service Due to Non-Payment

RESOLUTION TEMPORARILY SUSPENDING THE PRACTICE
OF TERMINATION OF WATER SERVICE FOR
FAILURE TO PAY UTILITY BILLS

            WHEREAS, Village of Warwick Village Code §141-40 provides that if a utility bill for water service remains unpaid for a period of 60 days from the invoice date, water service shall be discontinued until such bill, together with penalties and charges, is paid in full; and

WHEREAS, in consideration of the current health crises and economic hardship caused by the COVID-19 virus, the Village Board wishes to temporarily suspend the practice of termination of water service for failure to pay utility bills when due, including issuance of notices by the Village of potential termination of water service;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED as follows:

  1. That effective immediately the Village of Warwick shall suspend the practice of termination of water service for failure to pay utility bills when due, including issuance of notices by the Village of potential termination of water service;
  2. That the said suspension of the practice of termination of water service for nonpayment to utility bills is temporary, and may be reinstated at any time by further resolution of the Village Board; and
  3. The temporary suspension of the practice of termination of water service for failure to pay utility bills shall not in any way signify any suspension or waiver of the obligation to pay utility bills when due.

I, RAINA ABRAMSON, Village Clerk of the Village of Warwick, in the County of Orange, State of New York HEREBY CERTIFY that the above motion was made at a special meeting of the Village Board of the Village of Warwick duly called and held on Thursday, March 26, 2020 and has been compared by me with the original minutes as officially recorded in the Village Clerk’s Office in the Minute Book of the Village Board and is a true, complete and correct copy thereof and of the whole of said original minutes so far as the same relate to the subject matter.
