From the Mayor’s Office – Some Special Events!

From The Mayor’s Office

October is a month of tremendous activity throughout the Warwick Valley. Tourism is at its height with apple pickers, pumpkin pluckers and just folks visiting to enjoy the rich beauty of our landscape.

The Village is bustling with events like The Children’s Book Festival, Applefest, and Halloween activities. There are two events on the horizon that I’d like to highlight:

On Sunday, October 27, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. is a concert, An Afternoon with Betsy Straton. The concert venue is the Old School Baptist Meeting House and is made possible through a generous grant from Orange County Tourism, in partnership with The Valley of Warwick and The Warwick Historical Society.

Betsy Straton is singer-song writer who has performed internationally. Her original music and voice is remarkable, often sublime, truly singular in its beauty. She will be accompanied by Scott Petito on bass and percussionist Brian Malick with other musical guests.

This is a concert that will not only fill the Old School Baptist Meeting House with music, but the revenue created by ticket sales will all go to the Warwick Historical Society for the preservation of this iconic landmark. Tickets for the concert are $40.00. For tickets please call the Warwick Historical Society at (845) 986-3236 ext. 101.

The second event will be a Public Forum on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at Park Avenue Elementary School. The forum organized by the Warwick Skate Park Initiative will be a presentation and unveiling of the proposed new Skate Park in Veteran’s Memorial Park. This should be an exciting evening. The new park designed by Pillar Designs allows for skaters of every level to participate and was modeled after the very parks used for Olympic trials.

The Warwick Skatepark Initiative is an independent committee organized to advocate and fundraise for the new park. For more information email warwickskatepark@gmail.com.
