FROM THE MAYOR’S OFFICE – The First to Arrive

The First to Arrive

On Saturday, Oct. 14th, will be First Responders Appreciation Day. The event is sponsored by the Villages Sesquicentennial Committee and will be on Railroad Avenue and Green from 10am – 2pm with representation by the Warwick Fire Department, Warwick Emergency Medical Service, Warwick Police Department, and the Villages Department of Public Works. Although most of the organizations are Town-wide, it is these men and women who keep the residents of the Village safe from harm. The event is free and all are invited.

Railroad Avenue will be closed for the morning and afternoon to display many of the vehicles that are used for emergency operations. There will also be demonstrations such as the K- nine Police Unit, car seat inspection, EMS demonstrations and antique fire trucks and equipment on display. This is a family event to give us, as a community, a moment to say thank you to these organizations for their service and dedication. It is also a fun way to help children understand the importance of our first responder teams. There will be a ceremony at 12 pm which will include refreshments.

If you like the sight of a big red fire truck Railroad Avenue will be the place to be next Saturday!

Letters to the Future!

A little later on the same day Saturday Oct. 14th at 4pm, will be the burying of the Sesquicentennial Time Capsule! The time capsule will be buried at the same site at the entrance of Memorial Park where the previous Centennial Capsule had been buried. On hand will be the appointed trustees who will be responsible for the capsule when it is unearthed in 2067! Letters to the future are still being accepted until Friday Oct. 13th (that lucky day!) letters can be brought to Village Hall, the Albert Wisner Public Library, Track 7, Newhard’s. Please address your envelope to the hopeful recipient or it may be addressed to the general community of 2067 along with your vision and hopes for the future.

A Voice

The time to envision is now! Have you filled out the Vision Survey? Very easy and very important. Out of this information the Town of Warwick and the three Villages will be able to form future directives including prioritizing activities and goals. The last time this was done the Community voiced the desire to protect farmland, to create a Farmers Market, to focus on the vibrancy of its Villages – all of these things have occurred over the past 25 years and much more that has continued to make Warwick an innovator and pioneer. So let your voice be heard by going to wwwcommunity2gether.org.

The Celebration Continues!
