FROM THE MAYOR’S OFFICE – All Hallows Eve!

From The Mayor’s Office

The end of October is a busy time in the Warwick Valley and especially the Village. Halloween is fast approaching in all its ghoulish glory.

The Scare the Mayor Contest is happening again this year. The judging will take place the evening before Halloween. The contest awards the scariest, most frightening decorated Village home or business. If you want to participate, please sign up at Village Hall 986-2031 or clerk@villageofwarwick.org.

The Halloween Parade is Wednesday, October 31st. Lineup is as 4:30 p.m. on Church Street. The parade starts at 5:00 p.m. and will proceed down Main Street to Railroad Green where treats will be given out and the annual costume contest will be judged.

The costume categories are: most original, scariest, cutest and most Warwick pride. The contest will be divided into the following categories: ages 0-5, 6-9, 10-14, and adult and family ensemble. Refreshments at Railroad Green are sponsored by Shoprite and the festivities are cosponsored by The Village of Warwick Recreation Department and the Warwick Lions Club.

There will be a Halloween curfew for all persons under the age of 18 unless accompanied by a parent or guardian on all Village streets and parks and other public areas in the Village of Warwick between the hours of 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 30th to 6 a.m. on Wednesday, October 31st, 2018 and again on Wednesday, October 31st from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Thursday, November 1, 2018.

There is a chill in the air and fall is hastening. It’s sweater weather and a great time to enjoy the Warwick Valley. Soon the apple season will be over, and we can return to our own pace, our own lives, and enjoy the beauty that surrounds us.

Remember, off street parking begins November 1st. During this time there is no overnight parking on Village streets between the hours or 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. through April 1st.
